Age 5-7: PSHE Through Stories

A sensitive, yet fun and engaging way to open some meaningful discussions with your class in PSHE, relationships education and story time, or with a child that a particular book might resonate with personally. Each book finds characters exploring specific challenges, emotions and situations. Themes include family break-ups, family make up, online safety and bullying, positive self-image and thinking, migration, identity, poverty, loss, emotions, stereotyping, anxiety, team work and acceptance all explored in an age-appropriate way. These are beautifully produced picture books, from some of the best children's authors and illustrators (Jeanne Willis, Tony Ross, Tom Percival, Leigh Hodgkinson, Joseph Coelho) can work well if kept as a special staff 'toolbox' or to help build a diverse, inclusive and supportive KS1 library at the heart of the school.
