Two Sides is our upcoming new series for teenagers which has a different format to anything we have published before.

Each of the six titles contains two parallel narratives, featuring two differing perspectives on the same situation. Following a linear timeline, these stories read almost as diary entries, and the voice alternates each chapter, enabling the reader to keep up with events whilst gaining a multidimensional insight at the same time. These thought-provoking titles cover serious themes faced by many young people in today’s world—sexual identity, domestic abuse, racism and being a young carer. One perspective is written from the affected teenager’s point of view, and the other a friend, parent or authoritive figure, who has made an assumption about the situation coloured by prejudice or ignorance.

Penned by experienced authors, each book has been skilfully written along a carefully planned timeline to ensure the story doesn’t jump back and forth to keep the text accessible for struggling readers.

With around 4000 words and a reading age of 8–9, these six titles will appeal to struggling readers aged 13+. They would also make perfect quick reads for more able readers.

This brilliant series has stories that will grab the interest of your students whilst cautioning them not to assume they always know what someone else is going through. The captivating narratives will take readers on a rollercoaster of emotions and open their minds to the very different situations faced by each of us as individuals.

Appearances can be deceiving. In a judgemental world, can your students see Two Sides?
