Hands-on Maths Year 2
Hands-on Maths for Year 2 offers a 10 minute activity per day based upon the use of readily available classroom objects or 'manipulatives’ such as counters, shells, cars, dice, bricks and more. The series supports a concrete-pictorial-abstract approach to help pupils’ develop mastery of key mathematical concepts and National Curriculum objectives.

Divided into 6 weeks per mathematical topic area (6 areas: counting, representing numbers, place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, and Fractions) each page is given to 5 short daily activities for the week.
The 6 week programme overview for Year 2 in Place Value is:
Week 1: Recognise the place value of each digit in a two-digit number (tens and ones)
Week 2: Recognise the place value of each digit in a two-digit number (tens and ones)
Week 3: Read and write numbers to at least 100 in numerals and words
Week 4: Compare and order numbers from 0 up to 100; use = sign
Week 5: Compare and order numbers from 0 up to 100; use < sign
Week 6: Compare and order numbers from 0 up to 100; use > sign
