Talisman 1 focuses on alternative vowel spellings.

Zak lives with his grandpa, who raised him after his parents died. On his 13th birthday, his grandpa gives him a strange gift – a talisman. Never take it off. It will protect you. One day, it might even save your life, his grandpa said. But somebody else wanted the talisman and its special powers, and they would do anything to get it. From the day he was given the talisman, Zak’s life was never the same again.

Talisman 2 focuses on alternative vowel and consonant spellings, and Latin suffixes

The Talisman 2 series continues the fantasy/adventure stories of the Talisman 1 series, and overlaps the alternative vowel and consonant spellings and Latin suffixes of Titan’s Gauntlets, including additional variant spellings. The series offers increasingly challenging texts for young readers making progress in reading the complex spellings of English. Each book has 16 full-colour pages to stimulate and engage older readers.
