Refugees & Speaking for Freedom

Refugees are people forced to flee their homes because of conflict and persecution to find safety. While there is no one ‘refugee story’ these books can be a way to understand what might drive someone to leave everything and everyone they know and take huge risks to travel to an unknown place. They also offer insight into what the refugee experience might be in the UK and understand some of the cultural differences.

These books demand that the reader imagines what it is like to be someone with a completely different life experience and develop empathy and understanding of what connects us all as humans.
