To celebrate the launch of our Graphic Novels series we are giving away a framed illustration from The Head Is Dead, signed by illustrator Mark Penman! There is also a surprise mystery gift up for grabs that Mark will commission especially for the lucky winner! Cool huh?

When a practical joke goes wrong and Head Teacher Mr McShane is killed during detention, a trio of students are faced with two choices; own up to the accident and face the consequences or use the contents of the science lab to try and revive Mr McShane. Which path will they take through the pages of this gripping graphic novel?

Find out more about our Graphic Novels series by reading our series development blog here.

Congratulations to Gill Duane and Fran Martin from Hampton Academy for winning signed and custom artwork in our Graphic Novels competition!

Cat Caption Competition

Fancy making your cat a little bit famous?

One of our new Reluctant Girl reader titles, due to be published this Autumn, is called ‘Cat Brace Face’ and features a lot of cats in it!

Our chosen winner’s cat is being given the opportunity to appear in one of the illustrations that will end up in the finished book.

How do I get my cat in the book?

Simply send in a photo of your cat (or cats) complete with a caption or speech bubble and also tell us why your cat should feature in ‘Cat Brace Face’.

Here’s an example from the lovely Sarah to give you a bit of an idea…

‘My cats should definitely feature in ‘Cat Brace Face’ because they are divas and so would appreciate the famous lifestyle that would come with winning this competition!’

This competition is now closed. Congratulations to Rahkee and Sparky as well as Jennifer and Roxy for winning and a big THANK YOU to everyone else who entered!

Avril Rogers, Librarian at Sir John Gleed School, receiving her book prize from Badger Learning’s Sales & Marketing Director, Scott Richardson

In celebration of the New Year, Badger Learning held a free prize draw where schools could win a set of 10, brand new, reluctant reader books, with accompanying Teacher Book and CD, worth £84.50. To be in with a chance of winning the ‘Full Flight: Thrills & Spills’ Hi-Lo collection, schools were asked to simply send an email with their details as entry into the competition.

The highly regarded and popular Full Flight series for struggling readers is now in full colour with Badger Learning’s new collection entitled Thrills & Spills. These 10 new books retain all the fun and adventure of previous series but now have fantastic colour illustrations to hold the attention and add to reader enjoyment and engagement. The books offer a wide range of interests and subject matter for struggling readers with stories for boys and girls. Some stories reflect real life situations around friendships, while others are rollercoaster rides of adventure and there's even a scary story about evil clowns! All books have a non-fiction information section at the end, plus comprehension questions to ensure understanding and an introduction to new vocabulary. The reading age is 7.5-8.5 years with an interest age of 8-14 years.

After being inundated with entries, a lucky winner was randomly selected as Avril Rogers, Librarian at Sir John Gleed Secondary School in Spalding. When presented with the book collection, Avril and fellow Librarian, Lesley Gibbons, were delighted with their prize, stating they would be a welcome addition to the school library and the accompanying Teacher book would be a highly useful resource.
