eBooks for Struggling Readers
eBooks can provide reluctant readers with a new way of accessing books for struggling readers who may resist print books and feel that they are not for them.
Digital books can be a way in, using a format that is more associated with technology and gaming, so they are more willing to try again. Hi-lo books can also be ideal for EAL pupils who need age-appropriate, engaging books with accessible text. Other benefits of eBooks include:
- They are readily shareable
- Multiple pupils can read the same book at the same time
- They can be read on any device that accepts PDFs
- You can load them onto your school VLE
- You are able to change the screen brightness to reduce visual stress
- The page size can be increased as needed.
