Reflect Brown to Dark Red+
Written by top children's authors, Kaye Umansky, Narinder Dhami, Jamila Gavin and Jim Eldridge, Oxford's Reflect is a brand new series designed to develop children's reading and comprehension skills but also offer stories that encourage empathy, thought and reflection on the part of the reader. Nikki Gamble, literacy expert and Series Editor, has incorporated moral values and positive role-models as a key element of these fictional stories which in turn cover many of the new relationship education requirements in the PSHE curriculum. Inside cover notes encourage children to think about the characters in the story and 'Reflect While You Read', for example, in Skyward Bound readers are asked 'In what ways does Jake show courage, determination and resilience in this story?' or 'Think about when characters forgive each other. What are the challenges and benefits of forgiveness?'
Just like the Oxford's popular series, Greatest Stories, these chapter books look and feel like 'real' books and range from book band levels Brown (Oxford Level 8) to Dark Red+ (Oxford Level 20). As with all Badger Learning scheme book packs, these books will be fitted with protective jackets free of charge to preserve their life in school.
