Book Band Collections
Badger Learning’s philosophy for the last 34 years has always been to cherry pick exemplary books for schools and every age and stage within. These packs of increasingly challenging books support developing fluency, allow children to build up their reading miles and are perfect for topping up and refreshing classroom collections and library stocks or sending home to read for pleasure. Many schools also use banded reading scheme books and we offer a range of banded mixed scheme books so that schools can easily top-up stocks at the levels required. These books are supplied fitted with free protective jackets.
The Badger Banded Reading Boxes contain ‘real’ books (the kind of children’s books found in bookshops) which have been levelled against the widely used colour banding levels in a ‘best-fit’ way. These collections will assist teachers in easily finding books that cater to the needs of individual pupils, providing variety and breadth to children’s reading experiences. They aim to build fluency and enhance the enjoyment of reading for pleasure, both in school and at home.
For schools looking to refresh or invigorate their reading scheme book stocks, we offer a quick and easy collection of mixed scheme books in every colour of the book band reading programme, providing progressively levelled reading books for Reception, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Our mixed scheme boxes feature books from leading publishers and popular schemes such as: Oxford’s wide range of series including Traditional Tales, Story Sparks, All Stars and inFact; Big Cat; Engage Literacy; Ransom Reading Stars; Reading Planet and more.
With over 100 book banded collections ranging from single colour book band boxes to larger library collections featuring multiple bands. The table below indicates the expected book band level for each year group. Most children will work through the levels during the year, so for example, in most schools, a Reception child working at expected levels would end the year on yellow band.
